So I set up a little somethin' with my limited knowledge in machines in FTB. Most of it works fine, but some conductive pipes in the system are constantly exploding (see below)

goldconductivepipeexplode.png

The red one seems to explode at random, and no loops are in the piping. It is weird that that pipe is constantly having problems while the pipe on the mirrored side does not.
The blue one seems to explode at random as well, and causes energy buildup in the green pipe, making that explode as well.
AFAIK, those pipes should not be exploding since they should not contain more than 1000MJ (the engines only output 5 each and the cell outputs 24 atm). I don't know how much MJ can travel through a pipe per tick, but I doubt that is the problem
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

There is nowhere else for the power to go, and it will not go back into the energy cell AFAIK. May I suggest using redstone energy conduits?

Either
1. You have nowhere for the power to go (meaning the stuff is full) or
2. You have too much power coming in at a time and there is no where to go.
Actually, those kind of overlap.

Do you have the input on your cube set high enough? Looks like a lot of engines pumping power into that cube. If it can't be deposited into the cube fast enough power is probably backing up in the pipe.
Also if the cube is full same problem. Maybe time your engines a bit.

Red: hard to tell from the angle, but is that two rows of engines offset by one? It looks that way, and that would make a loop up through the engine and wooden pipe.

Blue / Green: That lever I'm guessing. Or perhaps something underneath?

The lever also might be shutting off the cube, check it's redstone settings.

@Endgamer Hmm, I'm not sure if the magma crucibles were full of MJ. It might have been, but I'm not so sure. I'll test that and see what happens
@SINZ 10 engines*5 MJ per tick=50MJ and the cell is set to maximum input, 100MJ/t, so that is probably not a problem. The cell is far from full as well.[DOUBLEPOST=1369778391][/DOUBLEPOST]

The lever is there to shut the cell off when needed. currently, and when the pipes exploded, it had been off, allowing the cell to output.

I'm not sure what you mean, but this is how they're all set. I believe this doesn't vreate a loop, but and then again, I have little knowledge on these stuff lol

Yep, like I thought. Engines can't do anything with MJ they receive, that's your explosion. Just eliminate the offset or make a long line. See, it's coming out of the bottom row and going right up into the next row, but can't work, so just builds up.

Is it because the bottom wooden pipe connects to the engine? I thought the energy won't go that way, but guess I was wrong :p
thanks, I'll try fixing this.

Golden conductive pipes are only useful for powering your magma crucible and your liquid transposer for just long enough to make redstone energy conduits.
Huh? I don't think I get what you mean by this. And I decided not to use conduits because they have a 5% loss while the pipes have a much less loss over shorter distances. My last resort to these problems are changing it to all conduits, but I just prefer not to :p

Alright, I think I fixed the red pipe problem, but the blue and green pipes are still a problem. Turns out they explode even when the crucibles are not full :/

Not overly sure on this one. But you could also place one engine behind the other, don't think there is any loss of power in doing this?[DOUBLEPOST=1369779634][/DOUBLEPOST]

Conduits instead?

They have a small loss, but they don't explode :)

Haha, you guys are right. I might have to switch to conduits on that part unfortunately. Well, 5% can't hurt that much, can it? :p
Thanks for all the help guys!

Interesting. I'm not entirely sure why it's only that one block and not the rest, it seems like the cube input rate isn't keeping up so it's just backing up at the first in line. Honestly, again I suggest just making one long line, or at the very least so you don't run out of platform space there just stack them directly on top of each other so it's kind of like this

engine -wood
engine -wood -conductive

Or just make conduits >_>
