giant lag/ not connecting to server

hi
when i join my friends server I connect and i have lags of like 1-2 minutes and most of the time i get an time out error. i tryed to reinstall java and mc related stuff but it doest work. my single player works perfectly and i have no idea what my problem is.

Java and Mc related stuff is not always the problem, what about your internet ? If your single player is working fine its probably internet because single player does not require Internet (Obviously).
