Hello guys,

after realizing my problem for not being able to go above 1GB, I ended up being able to download the 64 bit of java. The problem with this is that when I try to run the server, it comes up with an error message saying IOExeption, minecraft servers might be down. Check @ help.mojang.com. When clicking okay a secondary message comes up saying login failed, pressing okay a third time comes up with something went wrong... would i like to play offline.

There isn't any way for me to play with a 64 bit version of java, although i'm on a 64 bit system which is very confusing.

I'm not able to play on the server as it won't render any blocks and after 3 minutes of staring at chunk errors, I get the error message which takes me back to the games title screen.

Any help/suggestions would help massively,

thanks

Hello guys
Hello. ;p Welcome.

after realizing my problem for not being able to go above 1GB, I ended up being able to download the 64 bit of java.
Very True

The problem with this is that when I try to run the server, it comes up with an error message saying IOExeption, minecraft servers might be down. Check @ help.mojang.com. When clicking okay a secondary message comes up saying login failed, pressing okay a third time comes up with something went wrong... would i like to play offline.
This is an option given so you do not have to play where there is an internet connection. I'm no server expert, but I believe that you should only be given that message when playing on a client. Are you sure it was your server? Check the mojang servers and make sure they are green. If they are for you then check that your firewall and/or antivirus program is not blocking Java/minecraft from connecting to the internet.

There isn't any way for me to play with a 64 bit version of java, although i'm on a 64 bit system which is very confusing.
See my above reply. Simply having 64bit version of Java does not disable you from getting online or onto servers.

I'm not able to play on the server as it won't render any blocks and after 3 minutes of staring at chunk errors, I get the error message which takes me back to the games title screen.
Wait now you say you are able to connect to the server? I thought you said previously that the server/client was not able to connect to the internet? If the server does give chunk errors or crash please post either a server log or console log to pastebin.com The server log would be on the server if you own it or can get it. The console log you get by pressing the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button on the console. A link should appear, pastebin.com/xxxx You provide that to us so we can see what is happening.

Sorry about this, I was writing in a little bit of a hurry.

I was mentioning the following problems I had, but starting from the beginning I was able to connect to the client and see all of the mods and everything only by using the .jar version of the client. After that I'm only limited to 1gb of ram whereas other people are able to have more. My laptop has 6GB of ram and is 64 bit. When I looked I had the 32 bit version of java, so I installed the 64 bit version of java and deleted the previous version. After I did this I was able to boost my ram in the clients options but it wouldn't let me connect, that's when the pop up messages came to me about the servers might be down. This is purely because of the 64 bit version of java as when I removed the 64 bit and installed the 32 bit version back on, I was able to connect to the server but was yet again limited to 1GB of ram. I've tried having both versions at the same time but it still won't let me connect and I have the same pop up messages as previously stated.

I wonder if anyone has had the same?

Thanks

Lucas

Did you follow the recommended setup guide? Which OS do you have? Could you post a log with the 64bit version of Java installed just after you get the error. Try to log onto the server or minecraft. After you get the denial click on the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button on the console. This will create a link at the bottom of the console. It should read something like, 'pastebin.com/xxxxx' Post that here if you get a link. If you do not get a link please copy and paste the console into pastebin.com and give us the link that it provides. Look here to make sure your log does not get deleted.

Hello,

From after this post I've now got a new computer. Here is my pastebin log:

http://pastebin.com/FeVYHb1w

I have windows 7 professional 64 bit
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-4930K (3.4GHz) 12MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P9X79 PRO: INTEL® SOCKET LG2011
Memory (RAM) 32GB KINGSTON QUAD-DDR3 1600MHz (4 x 8GB)
Graphics Card 3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 480GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
2nd Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE
I installed the newest version of java
Even now I'm still having the same problem of only being limited to 1GB of ram. I followed all the instructions on the guide but I still have this limit for some reason.

Any help would be very appreciated!

That is because you are using 32bit java you need to be using the 64bit one. Remove existing one and install the 64bit version.

He has UniZero, all you need to do now Lewcas is uninstall the old 32 bit Java and it should work, and the network error is caused by a firewall or something in your connection.
