Is there any way to get rid of a large body of water with a pump or something? I'm using a filler and sponges butIwas just wondering if theres a faster way. I'm using the Direwolf20 1.0.18 pack.

I'm afraid that's all you can do with DW20's pack. GregTech and Mariculture are the only ones that can obliterate large areas of water.

Pretty sure an enderthermic pump would, but that just leaves you a problem of getting of rid of all of the stone

Zenthon is incorrect. If this is not a server, you can edit the Buildcraft config to drain water with the pump. You can use multiple pumps to increase the speed, but it will take a while. I suggest you chunkload the area if you can.

config\buildcraft\main.cfg
Code:
    # set to true if the Pump should consume water
    B:consumeWater=false

An Enderthermic pump does work, and it is faster and less laggy than the Buildcraft one.

Even with this, it is difficult for the pump to clear water due to infinite sources. I remember trying back when it didn't consume.

Ah, right. I always play with infinite water disabled via the ChickenChunksCore config. The Enderthermic pump is a better choice, anyway.

Personally, if all I had was BC but wanted to remove a lot of water, I'd use a filler above it placing tons of sand.

MFFS has a sponge module. It takes massive amounts of power but it should be able to clear a box of 128 down, 128 left, 128 right, 128 forward, 128 backwards and 128 up with the forcefield projector in the center. So if you want to clear massive amounts of water, try MFFR.

I know its manual(which most people tend to loathe), but a Shovel of the Earthmover and a lot of sand/dirt will get you far in short time.

THIS.

I had to deal with a lake and got frustrated at one point seeing as Oil seems to act like lava in terms of quarrys. Next time i'm doing this. I will have to retire my 25 stacks of sponges XD
