currently using this setup: http://i.imgur.com/XJSeGFc.png
the empty space infront of each engine would be a wooden conductive pipe with a gate in it. the problem im having is that the line always explodes. it keeps pumping electricity into the engines even though ive set it to "no energy - redstone signal" or "can store energy - redstone signal"

i dont want it to run forever, i want to be power efficient but i dont wanna go down placing the pipe all times im gonna use my setup.
how would i go around doing this? so it can be automatic?
i really dont wanna use macerators because they are soooooooooooo expensive

you have to place gates on all of the pipes that are connected directly to a machine. you then must connect the gates attached to the machines with the gates on the wooden pipes connected to your engines with red pipe wire which you place on the pipes. You might need to check the wiki http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Gates
