Operating System and bit type: Mac OSX, 10.7.5 / 64 Bit (Intel Core i3)
Java version/update and bit type: Java 7, Update 45
Launcher version: 1.3.1
Console log, pastebin.com link: http://pastebin.com/Xn2RnsvB
Description of the Issue:
After I download a modpack, the launcher fails to launch the game. The minecraft.jar file is never downloaded. I've tried this with three different packs: Direwolf201.6.4, MagicFarm2, and FTBLite2.

I've let it sit for upwards of 30 minutes several times. A little while ago I tried to play vanilla Minecraft (haven't done that in a while) and it was taking forever to log in. So I tried logging in at Minecraft.net (to check that the password I had written down was correct) and it didn't recognize my password. I'm in the middle of resetting my password, but it's taking a while. I guess there was some kind of migration from Minecraft.net accounts to Mojang accounts a while back. I bought my Minecraft account years ago. Does the FTB launcher log into Minecraft.net to download the minecraft.jar? Maybe if my Minecraft account has gotten fouled up and that is preventing the launcher from succeeding.

Well, I tried playing vanilla Minecraft again and it actually loaded, even though I hadn't reset the password. But it choked when trying to do an its own update. I tried deleting all of vanilla Minecraft (except saves) from my system and reinstalling, but haven't gotten it to work yet. Something is horribly wrong somewhere.

That has nothing to do with what I said.

You need to just wait. The first download and install of these modpacks can take a very long time.

Start the download. Go watch a movie, come back and it should be working properly.

I tried again and just let the launcher sit there. It updated the modpack and stopped with the message about retaining the modpack file (Direwolf20.zip). The "Launch" button is still greyed out and the Console is idle. I have to assume that it's trying to download files from Minecraft.net (minecraft.jar, etc.), though there is no indication of this. But I've just let the launcher sit there, my computer running and the internet connected. For four days. Four days. Is that long enough yet? Is that normal? Maybe I should give it a week. Hopefully this has something to do with what you said.

No, 4 days is not normal.
Line 225: [20:00:28] [ERROR] ErrorUtils.tossError:26: Error downloading modpack!!!

That tells me that you have an antivirus interfering with the download, causing the error.
That same antivirus could also be prolonging your download and install after that issue.

Well, I have a Mac, OSX 10.7.5, as listed up top. As far as I know, it does not have a built in antivirus program, and I haven't installed one. It does have a firewall, but it's currently open. Maybe Apple has quietly added in some antivirus function into the OS, but I've heard nothing about it. I've spent a little time digging through folders and watched the activity monitor for a while and haven't found anything that looks like an antivirus program.

I don't remember now why I thought of trying this, but I ran a Cat5e cable from my router to my Mac, so the connection would be wired instead of wireless. I deleted the Direwolf20 modpack folder from the FTB folder, and tried launching again. It downloaded the modpack fine and then seems to have downdloaded the Minecraft files as well. At least I saw info boxes for a few sound files pop up. Then after a while the FTB launcher disappeared and text started rolling down the console. Yay! it's about to launch the game, thinks I. But then the console just disappeared and nothing. It crashed, it seems. After a little searching on the forums I saw a tip about setting the option in the FTB launcher to restart the launcher when Minecraft closes, so you can get a crash log. So here it is.

Thanks for the help.

I am still looking into this, I just need to figure out why it's happening.
I've seen it several times, but don't know why it's happening.
