Title Game freezes, GUI disappears

Details of the issue This has only happened whenever I use the curse launcher, regardless of whichever modpack I use.
The game will freeze and will do nothing. If you press the escape menu, the game will then pause as you will no longer hear the music but there is still no menu coming up. If you were to hit the escape menu again, you can see then hear the game resume and subsequently, if you were to press escape again the game will pause and show you the mouse without the GUI's. You can then proceeded to randomly click the screen and hear the 'buttons' being pushed but it does absolutely nothing in game.
I have managed to press the save and quit button even with the GUI missing, and when it returns to the home screen everything is blank. A white or black screen with nothing but the music in the background and the buttons making a noise if you click the empty screen in front of you.
This is most frustrating as the game doesn't crash, it just simply continues on with no GUI which makes it even more difficult to debug as every google search I try to do is pointless and not very helpful as I also don't have a crash log to look at.
