Fun mod to play with friends?

A couple friends and I have recently ran out of ideas for mods to play. The main issue is that we're looking for an adventuring type mod, however, mods like, Twilight Forest and Better Dungeons aren't adventuress enough. We played better dungeons and we got bored, and they refuse to play Twilight Forest because there's only a hand full of bosses that we could beat up. We're looking for a mod that has an end goal, while also giving you smaller goals to complete on the way. The most fun we had with a mod was Thaumcraft, however we found the mod very unrewarding and eventually it lost it's fun. I was hoping someone would know of a mod that adds hard bosses and an actual end goal as the ender dragon seems too easy and too vanilla, that and it always crashes whenever we try to go to the end.
 
Try FTB Infinity and kill the Chaos Guardian.

And for the record, twilight forest requires some preparation. If you don't have a jetpack and a solid crossbow made from Tinker's Construct, forget it.

FTB Departed, I think it was, is a pack featuring AoA. I don't know if it's updated to the most recent mod version though, so some tweaking may be necessary if you want the newest stuff.

I am extremely excited to started on this pack. It would be nice if AoA was available via share code on the FTB launcher though.
