Since yesterday (the day FTB came out) I have been getting a constant message on the launcher saying that there is an update and if I want to. If I click yes, then it just closes the launcher and it doesn't re-open, if I click no I feel like I'm missing out on stuff. I have tried to get help from the chat and have been told to redownload everything, all that does is lose my worlds and uninstalls optifine. Any help?

I was having this same issue. After the third or fourth try, I noticed there was a temporary update attempt folder with the updated launcher exe in it. I ran it and it worked and installed/downloaded the upgraded client.
I did this -after- erasing everything else in my FTB folder to make a clean start and bumping the exe back up to the parent folder before running, but if you have any instances you want to hang on to, I suggest you copy them out to desktop and putting them back in once you're done relaunching if you do clean stuff out.

Thanks, funny thing...pretty much as soon as I posted this, i found the launcher in the "updatetemp" folder and now everything works fine. LOL! Thanks though.
