McAffee, ive already uninstalled and tried last night and nothing. Both vanilla minecraft and the technic pack still work so this must be an FTB problem

if anyone else is having this problem, uninstall java 7 and go back to java 6, the launcher is now working. It appears to be a java 7 error unfortunately

Well that is the only way i could get it to work, as soon as i installed java 7 i encountered the problems i created the tread about. reverting back to java 6 fixed all the problems so why is this bad advice when i am fixing the problem?

Because it's only working for you, and does not work for anyone else.
Your problem is your antivirus, or its definitions.
