  • OS Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Using a VDS server with four dedicated cores
  • Running FTB Ultimate 1.4.7.
  • No additional mods were added to the server
  • Current server specs are four cores(2.9GHz) with 4GB of ram on an E5-2690
Since the beginning of my FTB server it has used a large amount of CPU even while idle. Currently booting the server causes it to sit at anywhere from 30%-45% usage with no one in it. I haven't made any changes to the server and it's a stock install.
Normally I'd think I did something wrong or a mod was throwing an error but the server.log file and the console is not throwing any errors. Here is a screenshot of a freshly booted server with no one in it; http://i.imgur.com/Nq7K1uV.png

You could try using mcpc-plus and tickthreading, should help quite a bit.

Also i have about the same stats with it only booting to 99% cpu when generating new chunks.
Though i have some chunk loaders in place etc.

Having a heck of a time getting mcpc-plus installed. Looking at the instructions it seems pretty simply but everytime I do it the server just fails to boot. Are the instructions different for FTB server?

All i did to get it working download the mcpc-plus legacy version latest would do.
And replace your ftbserver.jar with the jar you downloaded just rename it ftbserver.jar of course rename the original one as backup.

I don't know what happened the first time but I got it working and it dropped usage from 30% to 0%. Thanks for the help.

Really no problem and glad it got solved for you,
Again though if you start using engines and chunkloaders and what not cpu usage will go up again.
