FTB Server VS Vanilla Forge

Is there any advantages to using the servers you get from the download button on the client? I don't mean things like "it's easier to use" or "it's better for packs", I mean are there any technical advantages such as better stability or compatibility? If I were to copy the mods and configs from a pack and apply them to a vanilla forge server, would it be exactly the same?

It would be exactly the same. In fact, doing the server setup yourself instead of just running the downloaded package is better because it helps you remember to keep your Forge version updated.
