Title FTB Revelation crash on launch

    Launcher Type

    Modpack FTB Revelation

    Modpack version Recommended (1.4.0 presumed)

Have you modified the pack? No

Details of the issue The pack just simply crashes while attempting to load Minecraft. I'm running a Sapphire Radeon card, and I've heard that Minecraft can be problematic with them, but I've been able to run Vanilla, Direwolf20's 1.12 pack, and FTB Horizons III with no crashing issues. I can't make heads or tails of the error log and would appreciate some insight.

This is a long shot, but can you try and downgrade your java to 8.151 or 152 - restart your computer and try again?

Post new log if it still fails.

Still failed, sadly. Minecraft started loading, then a few moments later crashed back to launcher. Here's the new error log: http://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/472b2a0d

Do you have any antivirus software on that machine?

If yes - make sure to whitelist/make exeptions for java + gamefolder

Then restart your computer and do a:

    FTB launcher - force update
Twitch app - Repair of the pack

Instructions for both + how to get full log can be found here:

Post new log if it still fails.

At present, the launcher won't let me force update the pack, there's an error that occurs when I attempt to do so.

Firstly, the following appears in the console when the legacy launcher loads:

Error loading texture pack info: java.io.FileNotFoundException: https://ftb.cursecdn.com/FTB2/static/texturepack.xml
Error while updating map info: java.io.FileNotFoundException: https://ftb.cursecdn.com/FTB2/static/maps.xml
Error while loading launcher update info: java.io.FileNotFoundException: https://ftb.cursecdn.com/FTB2/static/newversion.xml

Then when attempting to launch the pack and redownload, the console returns the following:

    Logging in...
    Beginning authlib authentication attempt
    successfully created YggdrasilAuthenticationService
    Login complete.
    Downloading Mod Pack
Error while downloading modpack: java.io.FileNotFoundException: https://ftb.cursecdn.com/FTB2/modpacks/FTBRevelation/1_3_0/FTBRevelation.zip
Error while downloading modpack: java.lang.Exception: Modpack download failed

My assumption is there's an issue with the server at the moment, so I'll try again later tonight, but this happens both with and without the exclusions for the files added to my antivirus/antimalware software. No new error logs have been generated for this issue. In the process of writing this, I see there's a mention of downtime occurring over the next few days on the FTB Twitter account. If the error with redownloading persists, I'll watch the FTB Twitter for notice of the downtime ending, and attempt again at that time.

Forced the update to redownload the pack, added exclusions into my antivirus software, still crashing.

Tried again with Java 8 151, still crashed, however updating to the latest version of 8, 162, seems to have cleared the issue? Was able to load and run the game with no signs of instability. Thank you for your help on this, I'll test it thoroughly over the next few days to make sure I don't run into any more issues.
  9. sorry for necroing this thread but im having the same problems and downloading java 8.162 did not help.
