If i try to download and start it, it just starts 1.10

Wait day or two hopefully Curse beta will be fixed. Also 100% wrong forum section for tech support. If you want to play as soon as possible you could try Curse's alpha branch or legacy FTB Launcher.

Currently there is a trend with the pack. That answer is not good.

You can do MP but you need to V1 of the pack not V3. Look for "Feed The Beast Retro SMP (v1)"

EDIT: If I remember correctly in 1.2.5 SMP was completely separate from SSP. They were actually two different code bases that had to be maintained and they main reason they latter on combined that server in to the SSP.
