Use NEI to check all of the ways you can make netherbricks, and then compare that against what you can do, currently. The only way I know offhand is the compressor with netherrack, though. Good luck!

You can use the soul forge if it's included in the pack.

You can harvest netherbrick in nether, there are two of them. Caution, it may fall down if harvested carelessly.

How does one get water for the fermenter? They only give you one bucket... Am I missing something?

Aqueus accumulator, contrary to what wiki says, works fast also with flowing water on at least 2 sides. Another option is to use water bottles, they don't destroy water source.

Edit: also I managed to get my time down to 28 minutes, next "optimized" run was 29 . I must try if magmatic engine approach will be faster (than biogas).

Anyways, compress netherrack in 3:1 ratio.
I don't really know what PAX challenge is either but if it is 1.5 then you can cook netherrack and join them.

If you make a sticky piston, you can use it to pull the netherbrick in the nether up with no risk of losing it to the void

If you place a slab made with initial cobble next to the netherbrick, you can harvest it during first (and only) trip to the nether, however you have to cut down at least one log for sticks.
