Ok, I have a Creeperhost 1 GB server, and I'm trying to run Monster, and I have been having severe, constant, rubberband lag that occurs every 10-12 seconds with every single version EXCEPT 1.0.11. The lag spikes make it pretty much unplayable.

When I installed 1.0.11, and started a fresh world, it worked flawlessly. I mean FLAWLESS! It runs so smooth, you can't even tell you are playing on a server. Blocks break and place without any lag whatsoever, mobs move smooth and steady, terrain loads smoothly, stars and planets move steadily in the sky without any jerkiness or back pedaling, and chests and GUI's open immediately. Creepers can be safely dispatched... :)

I was absolutely ecstatic that the lag was gone, and then, a few days later, 1.1.0 came out, and to my dismay, when I upgraded, the lag was back with a vengeance. I deleted everything on the server and started a fresh world again, the lag was still there.

So, back to 1.0.11, and the lag is gone again, but I don't want to get stuck in a beta version.

I thought about submitting a bug report, but I have no idea what could be causing it, and you aren't supposed to submit lag anyhow.
I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one having this problem, I was running Unleashed before this without lag, and I ran Direwolf for awhile waiting on Monster to come out, and it didn't have any lag issues either. All on this same CH server.

One thing I've noticed on the laggy versions, the memory usage on my client rises rather quickly from around 40% to about 70%, then dumps out instantly back to 40% and starts going back up again quite rapidly. (yes, this rapid drop coincides with the lag spike, and you could set your watch by it)
On 1.0.11, the memory usage rises and falls smoothly and almost never comes close to 70%. There is only my friend and I that play on it, and he has the same lag on his computer, so I don't think it's my computer. (which is pretty high-end and gets an average of 120fps running Monster) Java is up to date on both machines, and I have the recommended JVM parameters that Eyamaz posted set in my FTB launcher.

You might try checking out the modpack changes at https://feedthebeast.atlassian.net/wiki/display/PML/Monster to see if any changes made might be consistent with what you're experiencing. For example, an integer change for the amount of ticks ChickenChunks waits before unloading orphaned chunks was changed through 0.10, 0.11 and 1.0 (actually being changed to 0 in 1.0.10, to 1200 in 11, and back to 0 in 1.1.0).

Yeah, I saw that, and I changed it to 1200 in the configs on the server, and the client, and it didn't seem to make any difference in 1.1.0, even though that would be about the right timing for the lag. If that is the problem, it must be coupled with something else they changed that is ONLY different in 1.0.11.

I am having a very similar or even the same problem. We were fine on 1.0.11 and now on 1.1.0 tps jumps from 14 down to 0.3 to 8 to 2 to 21 its all over the map but typically down below 10. Opis is not reveling anything and I just can't seem to find the cause.

The JVM parameters are outdated and should not be used he even says that in his thread in bold writing if im correct.

1 Gig will not run monster. That said, creeperhost (In my strong opinion) SUCKS. I have rented from them once... never again. Also make sure the disks are SSD and not HDD. This will affect how the server runs, although from what you said, they are SSD. Your problem is RAM. You need at least 2.5 gigs to run a server for 2 people.

Um, you apparently did not read the OP. 1.0.11 runs FLAWLESSLY on a 1GB server, with 2 people playing. So don't tell me Monster won't run on 1GB, because I have been playing on it for almost 2 weeks now, and it still runs lag-free. EVERY OTHER VERSION of Monster (including 1.1.0) does not run well enough to play on said server. So, in summary, there is some config or mod/version that was in 1.0.11 that either is or is not in every other version that is causing it not to run smoothly, and I find it hard to believe that no one else is having a problem with it. (except Harold, apparently)[DOUBLEPOST=1395533104][/DOUBLEPOST]

TBH, my client computer is high-end enough that it doesn't really make any difference what the settings are on my end anyway.

Get rid of the creeperhost server. I don't see you having a stable server on only 1 gig of ram thats just pure fact. Take our advice instead of just writing it off.

It could just be that there in the stable version a few other mods were added but we still don't recommend running a server on 1gig of ram. They recommend 4gig of ram to run the monster pack on a server. So i would move on or move up to a package with more ram.

my own server uses up around 4 to 6 gig of ram under normal usage. 12gig assigned to the server though.

I'm not going to spend $40 per month when I know for a FACT that this server runs just fine PERFECTLY FINE on one particular version of Monster. It should be able to run on all of them.

Anyone else who wants to tell me the fault of my 1gb server can just move right along, tyvm. I'll just stick with the version that works.
