FTB Monster question

So, I'm mining alone, with my trusty alumite hammer (Thanks, Tinker's) doing my standard tunnel pattern. I had some strangely shaped dirt and gravel patches, which I cleared with the excavator, and went to pound out a single piece of cobblestone. This piece of cobblestone turned green, started spewing green tiles - which damaged me - and then I blew up - according to the chat log. After I had died, everything was lava around me. What happened? Aside from me dying I have no idea what occured.

just a total guess from me, as I never encountered it myself, but perhaps it was something from Gascraft?

Yep it's a gas pocket, they are extremely rare but once spewing green stuff comes into contact with a torch it explodes .... violently.

I wasn't aware explosions had the option to be pacifists.
