I run FooFarm (A FTB/MagicFarm 4.0 server) and I've been putting a document together that covers Tool and Smelteries.

Read the document here

I release it for your enjoyment. GPL'd. Share the document.

Comments and questions, corrections -- just contact me -- thx. In the spirit of this Forum Topic, I'm putting it out for peer review and general consumption.

After going through the process from scratch (Dirt poor to Manyullym Rich) I have documented what I can about the process. It's not a complete manual of everything related to smelting or tool making, but after going through it the Player should be able to be ready to handle most any mining problem they encounter.

This is also not specifically a manual for my server. It's a Generic FTB/MagicFarm "smelting and tool crafting" manual. It can be used on ANY FTB/MagicFarm server (version 4.0).

Except for a few cases of /kit usage (kit /tools, kit /book etc..) that are specific to my server, the rest of it is pure simple FTB/MagicFarm version 4.0 ready.

Very good, though personally I see no reason to go to a two layer smeltery straight away. None of the alloys require more than nine slots.

Ah OK. Thanks for that information. I will experiment again and make adjustments to the document to reduce the prerequisite material list. That will definitely save some time by requiring less Clay (the Achilles Heel to the Smeltery operation).[DOUBLEPOST=1382372066][/DOUBLEPOST]
Very comprehensive guide, I like it :)

Next challenge is to convert it all into MediaWiki so it can reside with the rest of the FTB/MagicFarm information.

The current wiki pages on MagicFarm I believe are out of date (they refer to Blooms from MineFantasy, for example) -- which are in older versions of the mod pack.

The wiki-version is on my To-Do list.

The one thing you'll need to do is to make sure you mention sinking the casting table/basin into the ground so you can still pour out. Though unless there's something specifically different about Magic Farm, I've never noticed a problem getting clay. But I might just be lucky that way.

I think you're right about the elevation of the sink.

Clay should be easier to find, I wasn't in a clay rich biome.
