More odd questions....
  • What Windows are you using? (XP, Vista, 7 or 8)
  • Is their anything not usual about your computer?
    • Is it a store bought computer?
    • Are you dual booting it?
  • Is their any software on the computer to protect little people from the big bad interwebs? (Stop kids from getting to certain places on the web)
  • Is there any monitoring software installed?
Do you know how to ping a website?

i fixed the same problem in another way...
i stoped using the FTB_Launcher.exe..
Start using the FTB_Launcher.jar file with a start.bat file.

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw" -Xms1024m -Xmx1024M -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar "FTBLauncher.jar"

now everything is working fine.

I don't understand this at all. Would you possibly be able to explain in steps how I can do this? Thanks in advance.

you can download 2 diffrent FTB launcher. One is a FTB_Launcher.exe, the other is a FTB_Launcher.jar file. I am using now the jar file to play minecraft.
To be able to start the launcher to play minecraft you need a start file (what_ever_name.bat)

How you get this file:
Open a texteditor and write in there:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw" -Xms1024m -Xmx1024M -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar "FTBLauncher.jar"

("Path to your javaw.exe" -minimumRamToUse -maximumRamToUse -JavaShouldUseIPv4Protocoll -jar"pathToYourFTB_Launcher.jar")

now save this file as a NameWhatYouWhant.bat.

in my case the bat file is in the same folder as my jar file ---->-jar "FTBLauncher.jar" -----> you can see there is no need for "C:\bla..\bla... in this case
minimum ram is 1GB
maximum Ram is 1GB
-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true ---> this is the magic what makes it happen does FTB_launcher will connect correctly :)

Any special questions, ask:)

I had the same error with the java 7 being unable to connect to the internet and causing socket errors. I am using a Bigfoot Network Killer network card on my computer. It was the problem. The fix was simple though. I just went to the Bigfoot Network Killers site and updated the network card and the problem was fixed. Do not try to use a windows tool to perform the update. It did not work for me. Windows seems to think the card was up to date when it was way out of date. Just use the update on the site. For those that do not have the Bigfoot Killer card, I would still recommend updating your network card because it could be causing the problem as well. If your network card was causing this please post its name and the company who makes it below to help others with the same issue. Also please include where you found the update that fixed the problem.
