FTB Launcher not loading after update

Launcher is just showing the console. If i close the console the java process remains running.

Operating System, bit type: 8.1 64bit
Java version/update, bit type: 7_45 64bit
Anti-malware software:Windows Defender

Additional Notes: I have tried adding the folders(tried on desktop as well as current location) to the exclusion list as well turning off the real-time protections just to see. The old launcher(1.2.7) still works just fine. I have tried the jar and exe of the current launcher.

This is usually solved by deleting the ftblauncher folder from your Roaming folder

I just noticed, why is your Java home in Dropbox?

I run java out of a folder rather than installing it. I use bat files to set the home when I run the program that requires java. This method works for all java programs that I have used including the vanilla launcher.

The 1.2.6 launcher works, as in I can still run it since I kept a copy of it in this setup.

FTB needs a java selector cause it will try and use all installed ones.

Why is the new launcher checking the registry in addition to needing the Java_Home environment variable set in order to work? In addition to checking the registry, why is the launcher failing to show anything if the key isn't there?

I know the registry key was issue, because I manually added and pointed to my directory and it is working now, but seems unnecessary as the launcher was able to tell what version of java was launching it to begin with.

It just tends to use whatever is around no idea why removing old javas always fixes it.
