I play the direwolf20 pack. After the most recent update, I've had to force update the game EVERY time just to launch the game. This is on a clean install, just my save data and using sphax 64x. FTB v1.2.2 d20 v5.2

Log on successful start up, after force updating. http://pastebin.com/ybHwraqJ
I've had a look at this log, not sure about this error?
[10:58:24] [ERROR] FileOutputStream.open:-2->Settings.save:72: Failed to save settings: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\D\AppData\Roaming\ftblauncher\ftblaunch.cfg (The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open)
Log on next start up, no force update. http://pastebin.com/xq1L8ANX
Something seems to require the minecraft 1.4.6 jar, and downloads it to replace the 1.4.7 jar

Clearly FML isn't happy with the 1.4.6 jar. Repeated attempts to log in get this error again.

2013-03-26 11:04:11 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] This version of FML is built for Minecraft 1.4.7, we have detected Minecraft 1.4.6 in your minecraft jar file
2013-03-26 11:04:11 [INFO] [STDOUT] A CRITICAL PROBLEM OCCURED INITIALIZING MINECRAFT - LIKELY YOU HAVE AN INCORRECT VERSION FOR THIS FML

So what's causing ftb to download the 1.4.6 jar? I figure if I can stop this, all is fixed. Tried deleting all local minecraft folders and reinstalling but same issue again and again. Tearing my hair out!

Thanks

1. Update your Java.
2. Please take your FTB folder out of the location that it is in. Place it in a new (empty) folder on your desktop, with *no spaces* or *special characters* in the file path. It cannot be placed in any folders containing other files/programs or in any temporary folders, including Downloads. It needs to be placed in a folder, and cannot be placed directly on your desktop. Change the install directory (in the options tab of the launcher) to the new location.

Post a new log if that doesn't work

Thanks for replying. I updated java, although fairly sure it was already up to date, with latest 64x version. I moved minecraft to a folder on my desktop as well. It doesnt seem to have helped at all though. Exact same problems as before.

Any more ideas? I can't understand why it downloads the 1.4.6 minecraft.jar.

Are you by any chance running AVG or Avira anti virus?
I've seen simulare issues caused by them before, in that case the files were put in sandbox mode causing the launch to fail.
If it's the same issue then adding the files to the safe list or dissabling sandbox mode should fix the problem.

Meldiron.
I was playing 5.1.1 because of this problem, ive added avast the FTB folder exception and disable the protection for 10 minutes, after this i started the direwolf mod pack and the launcher redownloaded all files. The game works fine now in avast normal mode an unprotected mode.
Thanks for the Idea.
Sorry my english.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I added my ftb folder to the exceptions list but unfortunately I'm still getting the same problem. Any other ideas?

Switching to 5.1.1 works for me too. There's def something wrong with 5.2 somewhere making me download the old 1.4.6 jar and then crashing.

It's working now!! Somewhere between adding my ftb folder to MSE exceptions list and switching to 5.1.1 and then back to 5.2 has fixed this issue. Thanks everyone!
