Mac FTB Launcher Crashes - before Main Menu

Hi all,

I've been trying to resolve this problem since yesterday afternoon without success. Actually I feel I'm going backwards. Initially I could get to the FTB title screen before Minecraft generated its own crash report. Now I can't even get to that far and I am unable to duplicate the previous success/lack of success despite backtracking my system changes.

After running the launcher it checks for modpack updates goes through to what I think is the Forge compiler and then just crashes onto a black screen.

I'm running:
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Java Version 1.6.0_33 from Apple Inc.
FTB Launcher V1.2.2
Magic World 1.7.7

I have also tried altering the Java Parameters as suggested in http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/detected-leaking-worlds-in-memory.12098/page-7#post-157630 which had worked for someone else. It did not unfortunately work for me

I thought after this that I would try all of the above running the Java SE Development Kit 7

I get the same results. I haven't posted the crash log because they are as far as I can tell identical.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that I have Java 1.6.0_37 running now. As far as I can tell there is no preference panel with this version of Java. I followed the terminal commands listed in your link but didn't seem to make any difference.

Any other idea's... Am I getting close to reinstalling the operating system yet

I have followed the terminal commands listed in your link ( http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/leaking-world-help-is-here.13230/ ).

Here is a copy of my terminal window just so you can check that I'm following the instructions correctly:

Is there a way to check that Java support has been re-enabled?

Should I now follow this part of your link:

1. Go to the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder and delete the file "JavaAppletPlugin.plugin"
2. Open the Terminal and run the following commands (each on one line):

NO.... Your at the correct Java version...

file:/Users/markbunney/Desktop/FTB/~/FTB/Magic_World/

Your doing it wrong
In your install folder, under the options tab....Change it to "~/FTB/" without the quotes....
(That is really weird, I have not seen it install like that before.)

Ok Booker I think we are getting somewhere. I have changed the install destination folder. I downloaded a fresh copy of the launcher and ran it with the new install directory. I actually got to the FTB logo screen then just a white screen. subsequent attempts just go stright to the white screen without the FTB launcher appearing.

Problems seem to occur when the applet wrapper starts. But on the bright side some progress at least.

I think I need more knowledge of mac's operating systems....

I'm trying to get you to install it without special chars in the directory path....
so it should look something like "C:\something-with-no-spaces-or-special-charictors\FTB\..."

Any help would be really appreciated. I was playing FTB Ultimate only yesterday afternoon.

EDIT: I've got it running again and the solution was that I removed Optifine.
