so i was trying to play on blast off with my brother we are on the same network and i tried opening the server from both pc's and when i try to connect the server isnt even listed in the server list its just saying searching for lan networks or something and i also tried with firewall disabled and the same happend
can anybody tell me whats the problem?

Is the server running on a 3rd PC other than your and your brothers computers? Then you have to add the server with it's IP address. This also applies if you are running the server as a separate process on your or your brother's PCs.

If you are running the server from your client (start Minecraft, start playing, opening world for external player access), then once you start the game, search for LAN network game from the other PC (I think that's what it is called).

so i need first to start a server, then going to FTB and from there open it to LAN from the client?

There are two different ways to play minecraft with other people.

One is to start a minecraft server, and then have clients connect to it. That server process is outside of FTB or any other launcher.

The other method is to start up a world in a client (FTB launcher, vanilla, etc), and then open that game to others (open to LAN, or whatever the button says).

I had the same problem start vanilla up and look for the man ip there then start up ftb and put the ip in connect to a server spot

In short one start the lan on ftb the other looks for the ip on vanilla
