Hello, I was trying to play FTB Monster modpack and had strange lag spikes, it takes like ~10mins to load the modpack and another 5-10mins to join a singleplayer world, in there everything seems to be glitchy and laggy, but i the FPS is normal let me explain: exmaple im walking with ~100 FPS and suddenly boom 0 FPS, after some time it's 100 FPS again.. and when i open inventory and trying to swith between pages in NEI (not enough items) the one that shows recipes of items, it's lagging like hell, idk what to do i tried horizon and few other modpacks and it was the same thing. i think it's something about java or louncher (who knows..)

Im currently running:

1.7.0_55 java

My PC:
2GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT
Dual 3ghz CPU

I'm using Windows 8.1

Note that about a half year earlier i was playing FTB on the same computer and everything was working like a charm i think problem could be also in win 8.1.

Any suggestions?

Make sure Java is 64-bit too. That'll cause some massive lag if it isn't.

full

Is it normal that Hard Drive usage goes crazy and stays on 100% all the time?

And you are most likely having the exact same problem: You run out of ram and your computer is forced to run its processes on the Harddrive instead. DON'T allocate(reserve) 4GB of ram to the game if you only have 6GB total... You are starving your OS and all the other processes on your PC, causing massive pagefile usage(hardrive "RAM") causing massive performance issues.
