  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Title:
FTB - Infinity Evolved 2.3.5 - Server Overloaded, Average tick 200ms+, Server Lag
Launcher Version:
1.4.11
Modpack:
Infinity Evolved
Modpack Version:
2.3.5

Details of the issue:
Hello, i have setup a FTB Infinity Evolved 2.3.5 server for me and a few friends but cant work out whats causing this insane server lag.

First my dedicated server specs;

  • Intel Core i7 860 Quad Core, Hyperthreaded, 2.8GHz
  • 8GB Ram
  • Windows 7 64Bit
  • FTB server runs from 2x WD Black Sata3 1TB drives in RAID 0
  • Java JDK & JRE 8 Update 72 64Bit
  • Internet 150 megabit down, 15 megabit up

As you can see from my specs i don't think it's a hardware related issue. Java.exe (server) sits around 20% CPU usage, and around 2GB RAM. Server is using -Xms2048M -Xmx4096M

The map is pretty much brand new with about 20 hours play time over 5 players. No one has really adventured into the modpacks yet. But i am already getting "Server Overloaded" spammed in the console and average tick rates of 200ms+ with just 1 player on the server.

Here is server console log within first 5mins of server being started (1 player):

[05:13:01] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 2966ms behind, skipping 59 tick(s)
[05:13:18] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 14169ms behind, skipping 283 tick(s)
[05:13:31] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 8440ms behind, skipping 168 tick(s)
[05:13:48] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 7375ms behind, skipping 147 tick(s)
[05:14:04] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 4429ms behind, skipping 88 tick(s)
[05:14:35] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 11740ms behind, skipping 234 tick(s)
[05:14:54] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 10703ms behind, skipping 214 tick(s)
[05:15:15] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 5421ms behind, skipping 108 tick(s)
[05:15:34] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 5420ms behind, skipping 108 tick(s)
[05:15:52] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 4684ms behind, skipping 93 tick(s)
And it slowly gets worse to the point its unplayable (after 20 mins):

[05:20:12] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 5593ms behind, skipping 111 tick(s)
[05:20:27] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 13913ms behind, skipping 278 tick(s)
[05:20:34] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 4385ms behind, skipping 87 tick(s)
[05:20:52] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 4169ms behind, skipping 83 tick(s)
[05:21:23] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 16749ms behind, skipping 334 tick(s)
[05:21:30] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 2778ms behind, skipping 55 tick(s)
I even get the warning when no one is on server, Average tick says 0.150ms:

[05:39:01] [Server thread/WARN] [net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 2737ms behind, skipping 54 tick(s)
This is what i use to launch server:

java -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -server -Xms2048M -Xmx4096M -XX:permSize=256M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -XX:parallelGCThreads=4 -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=5 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=10 -jar FTBServer-1.7.10-1558.jar
I have installed OPIS but am new to the mod and not too sure what i am looking for. I had a little look and nothing seems to be any red flags. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

I have same problem. Running server on E5-2650v3 (4 cores) 12GB RAM, SSD Caching and with 4 players 1 core is fully 100%, others are just doing nothing there. I have tried updating Java, different java arguments. Currently running with following params: java -server -Xms2G -XmX8G -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+UseStringDeduplication -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:parallelGCThreads=4 -XX:ConcGCThreads=2.

Server has ton of lag, machines are not even so advanced.. This is very disturbing.
