Details of the issue:

After placing a couple of autonomous activators,conduits, and pipes, I randomly crash.​

Does it crash without Optifine? You could also try a different Optifine version.

I turned off smooth chunk loading and it stopped crashing for now, but I would like to keep it on.

That and multi core can. I changed a advanced java parameter in my FTb itself and did some stuff with optifine and made it work a lot better. I will post screen shots when I get home from school to help.
