Hey, me and my brother are trying to set up a FTB (Direwolf20) LAN server so we can both play.
We're both connected on the same network to a router via Ethernet cable, but the router isn't connected to the internet.
All the java programs are allowed through the firewall, and port 25565 is open.
We're both using the same version of the modpack (Recommended version, MC 1.4.7) and server files.

At first we tried to make a LAN world using the ingame options. We can both see each others LAN servers.
When he tries to connect to me, he gets the "End of Stream" error.
When I try to connect to him, I get;
"Connection Error:exception:java.io.IOException:received string length longer than maximum allowed (23>16)"
We've tried turning off all the mods in the modpack, however these errors still occur.

We then tried to use the server files to host our own server instead of using the LAN world.
We can both see each others servers again, but have the following errors;
When I host the server, I can connect fine but if he tries to connect to me, he either gets "connection: Timed out" or the "End of Stream" error
When he hosts the server, I can connect fine but he gets the "End of Stream" error.

At this point I think I've tried every solution Google has to offer, but nothing has worked. Any help?

Please follow these instructions:
Please follow these steps exactly: http://desk.feed-the-beast.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/9/0/basic-troubleshooting
This is to rule out any issues with your setup.
Please attempt to launch the modpack, and open a new world save to make sure the setup is correct.
Now, continue on to check your previous saves, changes to the pack, textures, etc. until you're able to reproduce the error with the clean setup.

When the error has been repeated, please post your complete client-side (launcher) console log in debug-mode to pastebin.com and link your paste URL here.

The error was because my brother was using his E-mail to log in and that was causing the string length error because his email was 23 characters long.
