So, just now I have a really bad laptop, and it can just about run ftb 20 - 30 fps on tiny render distance.
Just wondering if this would run ftb 30 - 60 fps on normal - far render distance? Possibly record with fraps, not really too bothered about that though.

I would suggest getting 8gb of ram. It should be fine for gaming although it is an older model cpu. The newer AMD gaming cpu's are the Piledriver range whereas the one you have listed is Bulldozer.

If this a custom system and you have a budget in mind then let me know. Also where are you from? If you are buying from a shop/store then make sure you can add more ram.

Stop lying to him. Upgrading RAM won't do ****. Monster doesn't even take more than 2 GB on a decent computer.

I have MacBook Air (Intel 4250U dual core, Intel HD Graphics 5000, 4GB RAM), on around 30 FPS on Normal, with Smooth lightning set to maximum, Fancy.

And note, I have a Ultra-lightweight laptop, while you have a full-fledged desktop PC, so something is obviously wrong here...

Honestly that CPU is crap, but what can I say... It's an AMD xD

Conclusion: Your java settings, or something else is ****ed up. Check it.

so, i have been looking around a bit, and i customized this on www.pcspecialist.co.uk (I'm from the uk btw) And from what i can see by searching it on youtube, this should be alot better:
Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-4670 (3.4GHz) 6MB Cache
ASUS® H81M-E: Micro-ATX, LG1150, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs
4GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 4GB)
2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready

this is for £463 (bearing in mind it does not come with an operating system)
The graphics card seems to have some good reviews, but i really don't know anything.
also, this is about my spending cap

For FTB that setup is more than enough. Ppl telling you that you need 8GB+ to run these packs needs their head examined.

Now, if you plan on doing more gaming outside of FTB. A little more RAM would be nice, and I don't recommend the GTX650. It's a bit weak.

Looking much better! In the future, you can even upgrade the RAM yourself, since you're only buying one atm. You might want to consider the GTX 650 Ti instead, however this is completely optional since you're low on cash :p

well he could upgrade to 8 GB of ram, because it can be that he is using more than 50% of his ram without FTB running and that will decrease the performance of your PC and of FTB itself.

i am planning to get 16 GB myself(i also need to host a server so that is also a reason and my recording with Fraps and having skype open but that is a different case as he has)

1. Watch your language.
2. When the people making the mod pack suggest you use at least 2 GB, it's probably for a reason.

8gb would be fine, ram is cheap. also his pc stats quoted are fine, stop hating on amd.

see above^

there's nothing wrong with your old parts list. intel vs amd is like coke vs pepsi.

1600mhz memory is a better choice though i admit.
