FTB Beyond Help

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title FTB Beyond Help

Launcher Type FTB Launcher

Modpack FTB Beyond

Modpack version 1.11.0

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file

Details of the issue Unable to post log file, basically when I try to load up FTB Beyond there's a popup that says "the version you are trying to play inherits properties from an unknown version" I've deleted and reinstalled my .minecraft folder, the twitch app, deleted my modpack folders, and I also tried to install a different version of forge.

Screenshot then?

I'm not sure how did you delete .minecraft folder(FTB launcher does not use it) or how did you install different forge version(FTB launcher does not support forge installer)

For the .minecraft I used the minecraft launcher before, so I just did %appdata% and deleted the .minecraft folder, and for the forge, I downloaded the right version of forge for the right version of minecraft (1.10.2) and went into the curse folder>minecraft>install>versions and replaced the folder with forge

I’m not sure if that was the right thing to screenshot, but I’m not sure what to do, if you’ve got any suggestions on what I should do I’d be grateful

Change from native to jar-launcher on the Twitch launcher. (when doing so you also need to make sure that you have 64-bit java installed on your OS, DO NOT USE JAVA9, take the latest java 8)
Instructions:

When you've done that, you should repair the pack - your explanation above on how you updated forge is not the way to do it and most likely you broke the pack.
Instructions for repair can be found here:
http://support.feed-the-beast.com/faq/

Post new log/screen if it still fails.

So, I did all of that, it made me use the old launcher, and it said
"Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for 3145728KB object heap"

Edit - I increased the amount of memory minecraft can use, but now I get
"Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx5888m
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size."

So the launcher version is fine. No issues there. I'm concerned about it not being able to allocate memory. What are your system specs (CPU, RAM, etc).

If you go into setting for twitch in the minecraft tab. What version of Java does it list? Does it have (64 Bit) after it? For example mine says "Java: 1.8.0.131 (64 Bit)". I'm wondering if you are running the 32 bit version of Java. If so that would explain the memory allocation issues. You have to use 64 bit to get above 3GB.

Okay, so now I installed the 64 bit version of java, the game started to run, but then crashed. I tried to start it up twice, just to make sure it wasn't a one time thing

@CloudStrife13 I'm glad you issue is fixed. I also looked at that last crash report just to make sure nothing else was wrong. And it looks like you did the right thing by bumping the memory a little bit. As for closing the thread. I'm not sure.
