Solved FTB app "failed to prepare the Minecraft launcher"

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

I've been trying to launch Direwolf20 1.16 but every time it tries to update the Minecraft launcher and when it gets close to finishing a message pops up saying "Unable to update Minecraft launcher" then shuts down. I then tried to reinstall the pack and whenever I do the same message pops up every time, "Failed to prepare the Minecraft launcher". It says there should be an error report but I do not know where to find it. I've updated the Minecraft launcher separately and reinstalled Minecraft, the FTB app and Overwolf multiple times. Since it was working yesterday I assume it has something to do with the new version of Minecraft that was just released but I couldn't find anyone with the same problem. I also installed older versions of Minecraft but still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This normally happens if you're running an anti-virus try disabling it then downloading it. They tend to get cause issues with Minecraft.

Please put your logs from AppData\Local\.ftba\logs on pastebin and post the link. I'll try to help some more if the logs present anything useful.

I think I figured it out, I ended up installing forge on the Minecraft launcher and just moved over all the mods and config and it works perfect now. I appreciate the help though!
