A few days ago I decided to host my own server so my friend and I could play together. (it's a yogcraft server, btw).
I also added flansmod 2.1 and bibliocraft to it, so, to make things easier for him, I sent him my own yogcraft folder and told him to place it in the same folder FTB is located.
I sent him the ip and he couldn't log in, getting a message saying that Minecraft Forge is required to be installed and that flansmod was missing.
Could it be due the fact I sent him the folder instead of him downloading the modpack through the launcher and installing the other mods as well?

Thanks in advance.

Probably, the launcher has built in security features that requires you to download the pack at least once with a premium minecraft account. You should only need to send him the config files from the server that were created when you put the mods on the server. Have him download the pack and the mods, put them in the right folders, not sure if both go into the mods folder, and then place the configs into his config folder.

I told him to delete my folder, install yogcraft and add the mods himself.
This is what he's getting now:

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, he went to bed already, so we'll have to do that tomorrow.

The security feature is Minecraft itself, which is quite ingenious in theory. You can only get a mod pack or .minecraft folder from logging in with a premium account (in theory, not in practice though), so once you have one of those, the launcher assumes you have logged in before, thereby voiding the need for a file to keep track of logins.

What would be easiest would be to have him download the pack himself and add the mods, which you could just send him.
