Frequent Severe Lag Spikes with FTB Continuum

While playing FTB Continuum, I'm getting frequent and significant lag spikes. Doesn't seem like it's related to memory allocation, as it doesn't get beyond 50% usage.

System is an i7-7700K, with a GTX 1060, and 32GB RAM, which I hope would be sufficient to run Minecraft without issue.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Same i7-7700K Gtx 1060 (6gb) and 16 gb RAM, 8.4GB allowed but freeze every 5s
