Not sure where this should go, but i thought id try it here,

been having problems recording ftb with good fps
when i play without recording and on decent graphics settings i can top 80-100fps
but as soon as i record (i use quicktime as im on mac) it drops to a measly 15-25fps
even with optifine and lower than usual graphics settings
but on games other than minecraft and with recording i can get 60+ fps on frame whore settings

i play on the mindcrack pack.

these are my computer specs
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB

wondering if there is anything i can do to improve the fps a bit when recording or is it just due to minecraft running the way it does? or maybe there is a specific mod that causes some lag? any suggestions or input appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Hello. When I had to use QuickTime to record my gameplay, I found that I'd get a lot better performance when I connected to a LAN game running on another computer. Even if it's single-player footage you're after, that might be an option.

The only other suggestion is to make sure you're recording just the area you need, I size the Minecraft window to 720p resolution and then record that one window. I assume you're using the "New Screen Recording" option to grab video and your mic? If you install SoundFlower and set your mic to that it can pick up game sound. That way you can then use a second computer to record your mic, and then combine the two in some video editing package.

Not sure if any of that helps, but... maybe worth a try.

<-- Not a mac fan.
Havent had that much to do with Mac's either. Just don't like them. People I've talked too that have a Mac all say they are virus free no troubles at all.
Personally I think this is purely due the numbers. Since iPhone and iPad have taken off there have been a lot more iOS updates. I think this is due the fact the A-H@l$e's who target IBM ComPat are starting to target Apple these days.
QuickTime while Running is a resource hog? Look for something that will run on a Mac without sucking resources? Pretty sure ffmpeg has a mac version. Sorry dose Mac even have a version of dos?
Edit: Ok not sure why AHOLES spelt like that came up with a link. I wouldn't click it if I were U.

Thanks man :) yea macs arent the best, but im use it for more than gaming like video and picture editing :)
yes i have found some free software available to mac users, that is less resource hogging as you said, and now it runs 50FPS while recording thanks :)
just took a bit of digging to find a decent one with some good functionality
