I just built a Frame Quarry, and I noticed a issue. As the head of the quarry digs down, the blocks that the Block Breakers break stay in the Block Breakers buffer until I stop the head. Once the head has been stopped, all of the items sitting in the Block Breakers start to move to the output Enderchest.

How large is the buffer on the Block Breakers? Will there be any loss of items if I let the head reach bedrock, and then let items move to the output chest? How do I make the items move to the output chest as the head digs down?

I think the buffer is one item. Just let the items flow into the chest after each move down. Is there something wrong with doing that?

Are the block breakers set to a redstone pulse? Or do you have them set on a constant redstone signal?

I suspect the items don't stay in the BBs, but in the first tube past them. A BB won't activate if it has an item in its buffer. However, items don't move in tubes while the tubes are being moved by frames. So if your quarry is moving too fast, the items will be stuck in the first tube for quite some time. When the quarry stops, they will continue as normal.

To answer your next questions: no, items can't despawn in tubes. Yes, large amounts of items in tubes can cause lag problems. I recommend stopping the quarry after every, say, 10-20 blocks and give the items time to clear the tubes.

Yes, I had it moving to fast, which is not a problem as I dis not experience any lag. The only issue I have now, is that the mass influx of items might overload the output chest when the Quarry finishes. I have three chassis pipes hooked to the chest back at my base, each with an Extractor MK3 module, which should clear the chest quickly enough; can add more if needed.

Keep in mind you can also use multiple enderchests with the same combination to attach even more pipes to the same inventory. There should be no practical limit on how fast you can empty items from an enderchest.

Yup, that is the same one I built, slightly modified (added extra motors to go up/down, lots of hills near my base) and not as neat looking; moving north/south/east/west is manual at the moment.
