I've been playing FTB like normal for a while now, and all of a sudden, its running 1 fps, no matter what. I would normally get around 25, with a few lag spikes while rendering, but now it will never go above 1. It lags on the title screen, the only time it doesnt is when the game is paused and I get about 6-8. I gave it 4GB of dedicated RAM, and is added the javaw.exe to the NVIDIA control pannel manually, I have optifine installed, and have tried nearly everything.

If it helps, I had a recent issue in which I placed a pipe next to a generator, crashing the game, but fixed it with McEdit.

Nvidia Control Panel has serious problems actually working with Java games, I know from experience. I still can't get any form of Java program (including games) to work with the Nvidia Control Panel.

You could try going into the control panel and looking in the top menu to enable the graphics card activity indicator in the taskbar. Using that, you can tell whether it's actually running with your graphics card. Alternatively, you could also use this: http://addgadgets.com/gpu_meter/
It goes into a bit more detail about how much the card is actually being used (The gadget will only work if you're on Windows 7, which I'm going to assume you are, unless told otherwise).

Let me know if it's the graphics card and you find a solution, I'd like to fix it myself.

The gadget will show activity with your graphics card whenever it's used. You can use that to test whether FTB is actually running with your graphics card or not.

P.S. If it's not set already, go into the gadget settings and set it to your graphics card, not anything else which might be there.

Is there a way, via the NVIDIA ctrl pannel to enable every program? because no matter what I open, it says 0% It might be that it isnt set to the right graphics card, but I see no other cards that it will let me select

You can set the global setting to the graphics card, but this didn't fix it for me either. Keep in mind that I have no idea how to solve this. I've only given you the steps for diagnosis, not resolution. I wish I could fix it, I really do.

That's fine. Hopefully someone, somewhere knows how to fix this. I'm getting so close to just buying a new laptop with an AMD card in it.

I have a laptop with Nvidia Optimus technology, and I made the observation that whereas the Vanilla launcher launches the game in a way that makes the dedicated adapter kick in automatically, the FTB launcher does not seem to communicate the 3D nature of the launched process well enough. It required me to manually add "javaw.exe" to the 3D panel.
But then it worked and it should work. If not so, the driver isn't doing its job which seems to indicate the existence of either a human error or an obstructing process.

Here's a small check list of things to test:
  1. If using Optifine + multi-core chunk loading, is "Threaded optimization" disabled in the Nvidia settings for "javaw.exe"?
  2. Are you sure you added the correct "javaw.exe"? There may be more than one Java installed, check out the active one in the Java control panel applet.
  3. Make sure the launcher actually starts up 'javaw.exe'. If not so, add the corrisponding "java.exe" to the Nvidia applet as well.
  4. Almost all laptop manufacturers stuff their machines full of bloatware; make sure your manufacturer did not add some kind of "utility" that messes with/overrides graphics cards and adapter settings, and if they did, disable this utility.
  5. If none of the above helps, check your laptop's BIOS. There is a chance you may disable the integrated adapter from there.
In any case, google the exact brand of your laptop adding first the search term "+Nvidia", then "+minecraft +FTB". This way you will see if other users already found a generic response to the issue.

Tried this myself, many times. I regret to say that it didn't work for me. Google pretty much said the same thing that you just did.

This has happened to me while I was playing, especially if I was using like a Nuke or something. There could be a world problem, or you could try and force update the mod pack.
