I am posting this thread because I have tried so many fixes that claim to work that don't seem to help me for some reason. What my problem is that I cannot brake 23fps at max, I have all FTB setting to fast, render distance short, no clouds, no fog, no smooth lighting. Optifine is installed. -XX: PermSize=128M added to java parameters. 4GB allocated. Clean installs. Even went as far as over-clocking my cpu. Took that further by switching from windows 8.1 to xubuntu, welp, complete waste of time, still get the same fps. Never braking 23fps.

Using Monster Modpack

So, I guess your wondering my Computer specs?

AMD FX(tm)-6120 Six-Core Processor 3.6Ghz
24gb DDR3 1600MHz
Seagate SSHD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270x 1050M Boost 2GB DDR5
CX Series CX750M Power supply

Any suggestion/advice would be appreciated.

4Gb allocated to Minecraft is probably too much. Allocating too much may actually decrease performance because garbage collection will take longer. It is best to stay somewhere between 2.5 and 3 gigabytes.

Other then that I'm not sure what could be the issue as your system looks nice enough. I get >60 fps with 170 mods installed on a much worse computer.

I'll try setting it to 2GB and see how I do. Cuz I'm at a loss, at the moment.

1. You are /were using a 64bit OS / Java?
2. What is the complete command line? Actually. Delete it all. Don't even use -XX:MaxPermSize unless minecraft crashes loading mods.
3. I presume your video card drivers have been updated and you are not running software OpenGL?
4. Turf Optifine. At least until you have vanilla MC running at a decent speed.

Installing vanilla MC now and checking base fps on lowest settings and will report back with a screenie.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Looks like you need a new comp... *spits drink* my bad missed the 4 after that 2.

You could run a medium capacity server on that.

Also Optifine has been known to kill FPS in modded Minecraft, it's been known not to play nice with custom models and fancy GUIs.
At best it has a negligible effect on your FPS.

Optifine has impproved a lot to be honest. I'm having really good results with 170 mods and Optifine installed. Performance goes up and I can increase render distance which I like a lot. The only small issue I still get is the occasional z-fighting. But it really isn't that bad.

Optifine might, at the end of the day, improve performance. But, having run Minecraft on lots of hardware, Vanilla MC generally gets good performance, once some basic system parameters are taken care of. i.e. Up to date OpenGL drivers, sufficient system RAM etc.

So, the problem solving approach is to start by simplifying: Vanilla MC with vanilla settings, running on a fresh 64bit Java instance (upgraded) on an 64bit OS with the most recent drivers installed.

If this fails to achieve a decent FPS then there is something systematic wrong with the PC: perhaps as simple as the heatsinks are full of dust and the CPU/GPU is running so hot they are throttling themselves down to prevent themselves melting. Or the monitor is plugged into the wrong / onboard video port and getting intel "acceleration" *coff*.

Different operating systems have been tried and the fact that the xmx4G switch even allowed java to start up implies in both cases the OS was 64bits and the java was 64bits too.

Also set FTB to 2GB no augments.

Your FPS is quite low. Check you have not limited FPS somehow. Get your video card to use java in the settings, as said before check java is 64 bit. Open minecraft to LAN so it uses more cores. That's all I have in addition :)

Force update on your graphics and everything else from produced websites not windows update thing it help me a lot.Your hardware should easily run vanilla on way more than it is doing right now. It must be a software issue not your hardware.

Java is 64bit. How to I make the video card use java?

How does one "force update" graphics. I'm not using windows at them moment. Im on Xubuntu currently. I still think its a software issues as well just can't find the problem.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Could Feniks be talking about pressing F3+A in game? It re loads all the visible chunks.

@Kyuzou @Azzanine No, what I mean is it turns out windows or other software doesn't update your drivers to latest available. Go directly to producer website use their auto detect to update your drivers and download from them directly.

Also make sure you xbuntu is 64 bit. Last thing some computers have 2 graphics cards one dedicated and one build in usual build in one is crap. Tray disabling your build in graphics in bios, to make sure your dedicated is used at all times. A lot of systems uses build in to conserve energy, which is fine but sometimes it doesn't recognise the needs properly and still use inbuilt graphics where it should used dedicated. While we on it make sure your system is set to max performance as this will affect how it uses it hardware for example when my windows is set to energy saver my fps drops to like near 0 while in max performance I get steady 60 in DW20 and around 80-100 in TPPI. Hope that helps.

My pc is a modded HP pavilion HPE, it had a ati graphics card in it but I upgraded it to the R9 270x. Not sure if it has an onboard graphic controller. But I will check. Will also try the other suggestions.

Thanks for the replies.

Also changed xubuntu to performance using the command line. . .
echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Thats didn't seem to help any bit.[DOUBLEPOST=1401856430][/DOUBLEPOST]

This did reset the graphic in game but it does nothing for performance.

Thank you for the reply.
