Hey all, a little help would be very much appreciated.

I've wracked my brains too much so im asking for help on the forums lol..
I'm starting to remember why i stopped Ftb and modded minecraft in general because of jumps in FPS

I've tried nearly everything i know, I've updated BIOS to latest, GPU drivers, Java 8. Im using
-Xmn2G -Xss4M -Xms4G -Xmx4G -XX:+UseLargePages -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+UseBiasedLocking -Xincgc -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=10 -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=10000 -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:parallelGCThreads=10 -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true arguments for the launcher. And i also use Priority high on Java.

I have an fx 4100 quad ( 3.6 over clocked to 3.9 ) might raise this abit. 8 gig Ram, MSI R9 270.

All settings on near low, i get around 54 fps upto 98 down to 11 upto 54 just from looking around with my camera. I've tried a couple of different packs, including a few ATL packs. I'm sure it's a mod my computer don't like.
Blood n Bones, DW20, Resonant Rise all have this up and down issue, but with MADPACK (ATL) It's seems to stick at 60 fps (v-sync 188fps without) I've tried loading a pack without biome o plenty doesnt make much a difference.

I'm kind of at loss what to try, unless my processor just isn't upto the task? If not i can prolly get another 2. out of it upto 4.1 but i'd prefer not too :D

Any help would be much welcomed, got my modded minecraft craving going.

My PC and yours are roughly equal, except I run an intel Q9400 with an nvidia gpu, running at stock speeds. Your cpu actually benchmarks higher than mine. Do you see the same issue with java 7? I run 7 and have no issues playing bnb, dw20, or RR.

The only other things I can think of are maybe your args, failing hardware and/or your overclock itself. If you're overclocking and your support components aren't up to the task (like your PSU...could possibly be on it's way out) you will see degraded performance under stress. Could possibly be failing RAM. Try running memtest for several hours and see if you get any hits.

Good luck o7

Hi the overclock is new today, because of the issues, it hasn't made any difference. I'll downgrade to java 7 and try that next and the memory test. I'll let ya know how it goes. Thanks for the reply.

I would remove the overclock, especially if it hasn't made a difference. Like I said regarding your support components, under stress you can see degraded performance if they are not up to the task.

I doubt it's hardware related.. I can run Dragon Age inq on ultra with no problems :S Switching down to java 7 has increased the standard fps, but i'm still getting the stuttering, it' seems like it happens when i move between chunks.

Im gona take a dive and try optifine

Try making sure Java is using your GPU. You can set this from your GPU's control center.
Never mind, forgot the FX-4100 does not have integrated graphics like most Intel chips do. Optifine's multi core function could be helpful in your case.

Onboard card is disabled through bios. Optifine increases the fps to 156 but i still get the fps drops when moving. I'm wondering if it's something to do with my Hardrive. Seems like its hanging to find something everytime i move between a chunk.

I'll try MultiMC now.

Oki Wagon i could hug you ROFL, MultiMC im pretty sure has stopped the unbearable stuttering lol fps still goes up and down but no lower then 88fps. Do you know why MultiMC prevents this? also can the ATL be used through Multimc as well?

Yep. Just port over the mods and configs and install the right forge version. Also, if you are in 1.7, make sure to use Fastcraft! It fixes a lot of 1.7 problems, including lighting calculations and chunk generation.
I have no idea why MultiMC stops it, but it has worked for many people in the past(including me.)
