When I started beebreeding on FTB I noticed that my bee lifespans were rather short (To what I was use to). So I changed the difficulty to hardcore which is suppose to make them last 5 times longer, but it has had no effect. Is this a bug or has something changed in a recent version of Forestry?

I'm not sure, but I think the difficulty affects the chance at getting the next bee. Have you tried insane to see if perhaps that gives an increased lifespan?

Also, make sure to analyze the bees to ensure they have the same natural lifespans. It's possible you had a long lived and shortest lived bee in the tests.

Hardcore difficulty is suppose to increse the lifespan by 5x but it has no effect. In previous version of forestry I've had short life bees last around 30 mins. But now hardly any bees last longer than 10 mins no matter the lifespan. The bees were analyzed and they both had short lifspans, but the older one outlives the other by far

My point is the difficulty settings changed, and no longer mention 5x lifespan anymore. I can't find an exact current definition of what all the different modes change. It's possible the only thing changed now is the likelihood of getting the next stage of bee, rather than changing the lifespan.

Try comparing insane and easy, and do at least 10 breeding of each, if not 100+. This should help show what difference there actually is.

If it no longer changes the lifespan then that is my problem. That's a shame as I enjoyed the prolonged lifespans. And I'm afraid I don't have the willpowwer or the patience to perfom that test :p

I was seeing a bug in the console with extrabees installed where the Forestry config for beebreeding mode was not being loaded, if you have extrabees that may be the reason for the inability to change mode, it's also probably part of the reason extrabees was removed for now.

Nope using the latest version of FTB so extrabees is already removed

I should point out to you that the old hard bee mode had them last longer, but the longer lasting bee did not make more product over it's lifespan.
What you are detecting now is the new shorter lifespan of bees AND the new lower production of bees in hives without frames. If you want something like old bee behavior you have to start using frames in hives or build alviaries. This was done to make bees less of a free ride.
The new hard difficulty is honestly harder, less drones means less backups and the honest possibility of getting ONLY a princess, and ending your bee path for a while.

Ah okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me
