About time he fixed that.. it really became a severe exploit after awhile, even with vanilla mechanics...

I think that's also part of the reason that BC:IC power conversion was shoved out of the meta-game (along with an obsolete standard).. Been working off the 4 EU : 3 MJ model for awhile now...

Wonder how many cow farms this kills, lol...

Only the ones of those who do not possess an active lava solution. ;)

Assuming milk is free, where does a bucket of lava get you more MJ? In a biogas or in a magmatic engine?

Milk in Biogas engine nets you 1 MJ/t for 40,000 ticks, or 40,000 MJ total, per milk bucket, with constant lava consumption. A magmatic engine nets you up to 4 MJ/t for 4,800 ticks, or 18,000 MJ per bucket of lava.

So, milk in a Biogas engine technically gives you more MJ in total, but it spreads it out over nearly 10x the time it takes a magmatic engine to run thru a bucket of lava. So, it really depends on what your energy needs are: do you need a slow-burning, but low-yield fuel source? Or, do you need a higher-yield fuel source that requires less maintenance, but burns thru fuel faster?

(All fuel values taken from the Forestry wiki and the Thermal Expansion wiki.)

But how much lava does the milk engine consume? Since it's the lava that's less easy to renew.

Depends on how much UU-Matter you spend on Glowstone and how much SoulSand you consume on a frequent basis...

Speaking of which... "Suggestion: UU-Matter recipe for Soul Sand"

My Tests show that it takes around 3,380 mB Lava to burn through a bucket of milk (not including the lava to heat up the engine). So considering that milk is not hard to come by, then one bucket of lava produces ~11834 MJ over ~11834 Ticks.

So there really is no point in 'burning' milk anymore other than the set the engine to 1MJ/t.
