Title First time user - cannot launch

Details of the issue New user, just tried to play FTB. Downloaded fresh version of Minecraft, was told to install the Twitch client to use mods, so I did. Installed FTB Beyond and hit 'Play' on twitch client. It launched the MC launcher (2.0.934), I selected 'FTB Beyond forge-12.18.3.2422' and it spent a while doing a lot of initial setup.

It crashes somewhere in what looks like the late stages. It slows down for a while, then stops.

Can anyone see anything obvious in the log file, or can link me to a list of common errors/fixes?

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
Check the Twitch app settings and increase the memory to 5 gigs.
