It sounds kinda like feeding an idol which is basically like providing it sacrifices, if that is so pagan gods usually have some high consequences when the feeding stopped, even as an accident.

So lets say you stopped feeding this idol juice, your home will become a hole where a house used to be.

I don't think "hole" part is necessary. Believe me or not, point is not to "punish" player. Point is to give him interesting engineering tasks. With many powerful automation mods together, a) most of stuff is obsoleted by other mods, such as Raincraft transportation is obsoleted by BuildCraft transportation and b) there is no point of inventing optimal setups, because you can get exponential growth by spamming same old configuration. Upkeep with raising prices on same groups of machines would solve both this issues - if you use too much of the same thing, you will have to stop growth, or switch to another way of doing this task. It's probably not the best way to do this, but I just can't imagine any other.

Well I like to believe mod makers get some freedom to develop their own risk vs reward concepts.

But this mod would be more of a type that would ignore automation. It would be more fun that way, especially with many varieties of idols.

Yes, but players have freedom of how to play that mods and mod combination. Some like nearly-creative-like freedom, some like putting extra limitations to make game more interesting.
I though mod that limits spamming of same setups can be interesting for some other people, but if not, so be it.

I think without automation at all it would be more tedious, than fun, because you will have to dig/harvest all that endless resources to feed idols by hand. I would make (sated) idols brainwash animals and monsters, so that they do works for you, like TC3 golems. Zombies dig, mules transport stuff around, etc.

Again; the world is filled with people with good ideas. The challenge is to implement ideas. Anyone can have an idea for a mod. I suggest you learn Java coding or find someone willing to do it for you (fat chance). If you don't, this topic is completely pointless.

I was wondering why this topic was never moved to the mod ideas thread. It's just a random idea. There's no code, no proposal, just an idea. No point to the length of the discussion it has garnered.

I can program Java, and would be able to program it myself. But I wanted to know first if this idea was good to begin with. Looks like it was not.

It is, I'd play, doesn't mean I'd like to do the legwork though, I've got 18 trucks parked in back, completely filled with my own ideas.
