Since I've been playing Monster for a week or so now I'll retract my earlier statement about Lava Crystals. Rotarycraft is one I'm having quite a bit of fun with so far, and the power gen is quite easy once you get it figured out.

Especially since Steam Engines are free power once you get them water and fire.
If you're using Lava, for the amount of storage, you're probably better served using Extra Utilities Drums, instead of Railcraft Tanks.

On the first day (on a server) I had ore tripling by using RoC grinder, gasoline engine, fermenter, and dc electric engine. Power just costs sugar, dirt, and plants. You do however need Redstone and gold I believe. But, tripling son.
