Feed the Beast compatibility with minecraft 1.5.1?

I'm new here, and I know this probably is a somewhat (or very) stupid question.

Is it safe to install FTB on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.7 and minecraft 1.5.1?

Or, is FTB compatible with MC Mac 1.5.1?

It's safe to install FTB on a computer running Minecraft 1.5.1.

But (unless you're running the MLP pack), you won't be playing with Minecraft 1.5.1 when you use a modpack from the FTB launcher.

So I can't run the modpack in minecraft 1.5.1 then? i assume it would cause crashes or stuff.

What would i need to do to run the FTB modpack in minecraft (i particularly need railcraft).

use the packs already available. They're at 1.4.7 right now.

It is as simple as getting the launcher and running it.
Gone are the days of moving packages into folders and merging them with this or the other and 15 step configurations.

Yeah, unless you go to a lot of trouble, you can't make FTB run the wrong version of Minecraft, regardless of what you have installed on your computer elsewhere.
What we have here is a failure by the Original Poster to understand how the launcher works at all.
