For some reason my feed the beast closes when it opens up the mojang window and I need some help figuring out how to stop that from happening. Any help would be welcome.

You are getting an out of memory error. How much RAM do you have in your system? Also, is it a 64 bit OS? If you do have 64 bit OS uninstall the 32 bit version of Java and replace it with the 64 bit version.
I have windows 32 bit and 8gb of ram, I'm assuming windows 64 bit would run better?
Windows 32Bit can only handle 4gb of ram and output 1GB of ram to java. Upgrading to 64bit will give you endless opportunitys and allow you to play with more ram helping with the lag and the launcher should launch the mod pack properly.

Before you upgrade to 64bit Windows, make sure you hardware actually is 64bit, else you will be wasting money on an upgrade you can't use.
Actually the upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit is free as long as he uses the same version and type of windows (IE Windows 7 Home Premium is consider different from Windows 7 Ultimate) and his current license key is valid for both. However, he does need to make sure that he actually has a 64 bit cpu.
Justinfire see if you can run and load the FTB Lite pack. I'm sure you can run that one until you can improve your rig.
