I get an error message saying "minecraft cannot be launched in it's current configuration". It then tells me to look at the ForgeModLoader.log or something.

I've tried reinstalling but nothing works.

It seems that Minecraft Forge failed to download some of the files that it needed. Try running the game again. If that doesn't work, try deleting the direwolf20 folder and letting it redownload.

Please don't bump posts. It's not against rules, but it's unfair to others looking for help.
Your first log was the FML log, seeing the Console log allows for comparison, as well as you can see the initial processes from startup.
Please take your FTB folder out of the location that it is in. Place it in a new folder on your desktop, with no spaces or special characters in the file path. It cannot be placed in any folder containing other documents/files/programs or a temporary folder, including Downloads. It does need to be placed in a folder. Change the install directory (in the options tab of the launcher) to the new location.
If this does not work, I'd like to see the new console log.

The entire Feed the Beast folder, everything that was downloaded for your FTB can't be in any of the aforementioned folders.

No need, just download these files;

  1. 2013-02-14 23:16:24 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] *** Download http://files.minecraftforge.net/fmllibs/argo-2.25.jar
  2. 2013-02-14 23:16:24 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] *** Download http://files.minecraftforge.net/fmllibs/guava-12.0.1.jar
  3. 2013-02-14 23:16:24 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] *** Download http://files.minecraftforge.net/fmllibs/asm-all-4.0.jar
    2013-02-14 23:16:24 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] *** Download http://files.minecraftforge.net/fmllibs/bcprov-jdk15on-147.jar
and place them into /(packname)/minecraft/lib/ of where your FTB install resides.

Logged in to say that this fixed the problem for me as well - and I was seeing it on the MindCrack 8.1.1 pack.

The FTB launcher would download the above files *somewhere* after selecting the MindCrack pack and hitting "Launch", but then I would receive the exact same fatal error message as the OP.

I had TWO of the 4 files in the above quote in my lib folder - argo-2.25.jar and asm-all-4.0.jar. I did not have the other two.

I downloaded those two missing files, and now MindCrack FTB launches.

It could be McAfee on my work laptop redirecting the Forge libs or preventing them from being placed (but not sure why the other two were ok). Just want to throw that out there. It's done crazy stuff like that before.

Lastly, just wanted to add that I only just started seeing this problem after the most recent update, and only on a brand new FTB download / scratch install.

Hope this helps someone.
