Is there any other modded way to smelt items as fast as possible without using an Induction/overclocked Electric Furnace? The only other option I can think about at the moment is the Infernal Furnace from TC3, as long as it has three Arcane Bellows.

Factorization's furnace heaters can, according to their documentation on his thread, actually overclock vanilla furnaces.

Aye, they can. If you stuff powered factorization heaters around a furnace, it's actually pretty quick. 5 furnace heaters reduces smelting time to about 1 second/item.

Ooh! Didn't know that, I'll have to take advantage of it for sure. I didn't get the point of Factorization at first, but the more I do with it, the cooler it gets.

Heh, since IC2 is the first mod i used i cant turn me back on it. I still use my 1 item/tick macerators and furnaces. Who needs induction furnaces and rotary macerators when ye can smelt a stack of items in just over 3 seconds? :D

If you dont want to use ic2 i see no quarrel with a line of induction smelters with an infinite cobble->sand loop or a row of pulverisers and the furnace counterparts.

Factorization...AKA"barrels mod"

Well, FZ is a core mod for me for only one feature, PCT. I searched for replacement for project table in 1.3 and I found something better. I really like the rest of this mod, but this one feature makes my wait for FZ update before testing new version of MC. Overall FZ is very similar to GT and in most cases FZ had those features first, but it doesn't change other mods/vanilla (progressive ore processing, silk touch tool and grinding silktouched ores, more interesting autocrafting, massive storage, diamonds for grinding ores)

Quite frankly, Induction Smelter ends up being quite fast.. If you're really wanting speed, 4x Pulverizers feeding 1x Induction Smelter. Technically, I suppose you could do 5x, but I know for a fact that it can handle 4x.

Induction Smelter will process 2x pulverized <ore> for a cost of 80 MJ. At 4 MJ/t this means it processes 2x pulverized <ore> at a rate of one process per 20 ticks, or 1 second. Your secondary outputs can go straight into a regular Powered Furnace, it should easily keep up, but if you are worried, put a hopper on it and let them feed into the hopper.

It might not beat out a rotary macerator with a ton of upgrades (and wtf, upgrade in an advanced machine?), but it's quite fast enough for micro-smelting for a specific project, and will more than keep up with even the most ridiculous of automated mining operations.

Well, having all powered furnaces in the world isn't going to help much when I need to smelt exactly 2 pieces of cobblestone instantly because I'm in a hurry, for whatever reason. I do see how having more things is more efficient in the long run or in the case of automation, though.

As for induction smelters, I prefer using pulverizers for at least copper and iron because of the extra gold and ferrous metal.
