Is it possible? I tried with a power tool with the plasma cannon module in a deployer, but that didn't work. Possibly splash potions activated by a deployer? There's holy hand grenades and glowing water too..... But I'm just not sure how to efficiently mass produce one of the items... Any right click activated weapon should, in theory, work, however I'm just not sure how to farm splash potions or the like...

Do turtles not work?

You'd have to use a vanilla mob farm, not a soul shard, but I'm pretty sure minium shards will still drop.

Sounds like it's vanilla mob farm time - drop trap/lava blade to get mobs down to 1 health and let them collect for a while. Then go to town with your fists of fury.

drop trap works best, then use the sword of the zephyr to kill 20+ with 1 hit. Splash damage ftw.

Ya thats what I do.. I shut down my XP farm.. And go kill them manual like.. Right now you can easy come out with stacks of them doing it this way.. So enjoy it... Because its been fixed in 1.5.1 were the drops are now less.. Still The Mob Farm wins the day.. Just not stacks at a time.. Maybe just 1/2 that lol. ;)

I had a couple of thousand minium from the railgun based mob grinder I built earlier this week. Then my housemate the server admin managed to blow up his ME storage network with all his stuff in, and reverted the world two days to get it back, wiping out my grinder and everything I got from it >_<

To be fair, it would have effectively reverted him from post-scarcity, building a fusion reactor, resources are not an issue for anything right back to the tree punching stage. He lost everything.

In addition to the Rail Gun in the Deployer dropping shards (which I think I read is unintentional and will be fixed), Liquid XP also has a block that makes automated mob deaths count as player kills. I do not know if they drop shards though. Planning on trying it soon.

"This is the LXP Catalyzer. For a relatively small cost of Liquid XP, which can be pumped in any side, it will make nearby mob deaths count as player kills."

Glowing water absolutely works in a deployer to kill mobs for minium shards. The only other thing I've tested is a lightning wand I had lying around (didn't work), but I'm guessing a fire wand or any other right click weapon that damages an area should work. It's not really a bug with the deployer, given that it IS doing exactly what it says it is supposed to do, but it is a workaround of the intended mechanic of the minium shard. To fix it, they deployer would either need special exceptions (perhaps a list of IDs in a config) for certain items or other mod authors would need to make sure area effect damage is not linked to right click if they don't want it used in this fashion. While railgun automation is relatively easy, glowing water minium requires automated gathering of other resources and careful timing to avoid lagging up the server. That being said, I'm just short some demonic bees for the glowstone.

Here's what you need for automated glowing water farm (even without the deployer-minium thing, it's a fun item and used for making holy hand grenades):
Lots of sand. I've been quarrying in desert biomes anyway, so it's mostly a non-issue as there are lots of ways to get tons of sand.
Auto smelting of sand to glass and auto crafting of glass to glass panes and auto crafting of glass panes to empty vials.
A deployer on a timer filling empty vials to make vials of ordinary water.
A netherwart farm. I used golems and had them dump stuff into an ender chest connected to my me network.
A gunpowder farm. Tier 5 creeper shard or lots of Austere bees.
A glowstone farm. Demonic Bees, a witch farm, or a complicated setup using the tome of the alkahest, a redstone farm, and an initial glowstone dust to turn redstone into glowstone.

And there you go!

Throw a zombie pigman farm on top of this for golden nuggets for making holy hand grenades (you'd already have all the stuff needed for a tnt farm at this point as well).

Also, if in thinking of building your house out of Holy Planks of Sengir (because why not), don't. They're just oak planks if you place them.

Awesome! I'll give that a try sometime.... Lengthy setup but meh, I like a challenge :D

Also, since glowing water is an area effect, it'll kill every weakened undead mob it hits. So a fall trap with the deployer on a lengthy timer is a good way to conserve glowing water usage. Just be aware of how long the timer is versus how many entities will spawn in that time to avoid creating lag. Since this also generates exp orbs, you can use an xp turtle to collect them and enchant things (just like any other xp generating mob trap).

There are bees that make just about everything. If you are unsure about a certain item, ask me! I'll do my best to help. But yea minium bees are a life saver!
