Factorization 0.8.34 packager Bug?

I can't see this is specifically related to Surgs Sky block pack but looks to be a fundamental bug in factorization with the packager.
According to both the FTB wiki, all other wiki's and all other info I can find items can be fed into the packager via either the top of the bottom and extracted via any sides.
It appears however that it only extracts from the input slot not the output slot. I've tried this with transfer nodes, buildcraft pipes with redstone engines, and item ducts with servos. The result it the same .. it just extracts the items pumped in and not anything it's packaged.

I've found that I have to input from the sides and extract from the bottom.

I am using logistics pipes; have not tried any other item transport systems.

I can input from the side or the top, but I extract from the bottom. It will actually send a redstone signal to the bottom ever so briefly if you have the TE3 item duct on extract mode without any other redstone signal, at least in my experience. I always put a pnuematic servo in there anyways set to extract.
