I am playing a single player world and the game lags so much I can barely move around. I especially cannot do anything should a skeleton/zombie show up; I am almost immediately killed because I can't face them or move around but they seem to be able to easy shoot arrows or attack me.

I am using a MacBook Pro. I have no idea about specifics. I'm getting frustrated that I can't do anything besides respawn and find my way back to the base just to be killed immediately by monsters that seem to be appearing out of nowhere inside the mine.

So the mobs aren't lagging, but you are? Your using a mouse and not the built in trackpad right?

Also, "MacBook". Well there's your problem! Got anymore details on the actual hardware?

Maybe someone else can help you more, but in my eyes that hardware is simply underpowered, and nothing but money aka new hardware can fix that.

Try Optifine before you go suffer and/or lay down several hundred dollars on a new computer. Its not going to perform miracles, but it might just make things playable. Also, make sure to turn down your render distance, if your the type of person that doesn't fly around lots of a server, then Short should be fine. Because I wear a Gravisuit, and my hardware can keep up, I have my render distance at Far.

Known problem with OSX and FTB. You need to add this to your advanced options:

Code:
-XX:PermSize=128M
