I'm trying to help my friend out because we have a group of friends who want to play FTB together, we used to play back in 1.31 with no problems. Now we're having absolutely terrible problems. We've done the following and things have only gotten worse.

  • Uninstalled all un-needed programs
  • Deleted at LEAST 40GB of un-needed data
  • CCleaned her multiple times
  • Updated Java to the latest 64bit (We've tried Oracle Java from java.com as well as JRE update 40. Java.com was better)
  • Updated her graphics drivers
  • Tried Optifine (Lite and normal)
  • Deleted a lot of mods from our server and her client
  • Defragged her hard drive
  • Reinstalled FTB
Essentially if you can think of it, we've done it. Nothing has worked yet, does anyone have any ideas why? When she first joined our FTB Ultimate server, she had 20 FPS. We tried to get her a better FPS, it slowly got worse. We've even switched to Direwolf20 and modified our pack, and she gets 1 FPS. Literally 1 FPS. She gets 8-12 FPS on regular Minecraft as well, but she has a decent enough computer to handle at least Minecraft at a steady FPS. She should be getting at LEAST 30-40?
I see kids on YouTube with the same, or slightly worse setups running Sonic Ethers shaders at 20-30fps on regular Minecraft. Why can't my friend play?

That's the integrated adapter on my Asus K53SV, I think. If I use it to run FTB (instead of the dedicated Nvidia GPU), I get mostly 2-5 fps. So I'm afraid your friend's box lacks the required graphics power for this mod pack.

When we had FTB Ultimate with absolutely no modifications, she had 20 FPS. We've significantly helped her PC, dropped the amount of mods and switched to a different pack (FTB Ultimate -> Direwolf20). I'm just baffled about how more crap = more FPS. Less crap = Less FPS.

Also, what type of FPS do you get on lowest setting of vanilla Minecraft on integrated graphics?

Sorry, I can't tell a) because I'm not near the laptop atm, and b) because I never use the integrated gpu for gaming. It was by mere accident (FTB launcher not being recognized as graphics intensive application by the Nvidia drivers) that I first launched FTB that way - and then started wondering for a while.

As the server grows and things are built this will cause the fps to drop. The minimum, and I do mean minimum, fps required for smooth gameplay is 25 and unfortunately if she only had 20fps to start with then it will only get worse. Also if she only had 8-12 fps with I assume you meant regular MC then playing with mods would be near impossible.[DOUBLEPOST=1371769687][/DOUBLEPOST]Also according to Mojang these are the minimum requirements for Minecraft with no mods. So if you want to play with mods you are aiming for much higher that those specs.
